The 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebrations organised by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) have received a Sh10 million boost from Co-operative Bank of Kenya.
The contribution was presented to TSC Chairman Dr Jamleck Muturi by Co-op Bank as the lender reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the education sector and government programmes.
The cheque was handed over in the presence of TSC departmental directors as preparations gather pace for the national celebrations scheduled for October 5, 2026, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Speaking during the handover, Co-op Bank Head of Government and Public Sector Banking Silvance Nono reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to working with the TSC and the Government in supporting initiatives that recognise and advance the teaching profession.
The World Teachers’ Day celebrations provide an opportunity to recognise the contribution of teachers to education and national development, while bringing together stakeholders to reflect on the opportunities and challenges facing the profession.
Co-op Bank’s contribution comes as the bank continues to engage with public institutions and professional groups through partnerships and financial support aimed at strengthening key sectors of the economy.
The bank said its partnership with the TSC reflects its broader commitment to supporting institutions that play a central role in Kenya’s development, including the education sector.
The 2026 celebrations at Kasarani are expected to bring together teachers, education stakeholders and government officials to mark the occasion and celebrate the contribution of teachers across the country.
