A teacher died while several students sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred in the Masai area, Taita Taveta.

The students were rushed to Mikindani Hospital to receive treatment.

The late teacher was accompanying the students at the music festival when the accident happened.

Member of Parliament, Jomvu Constituency, Badi Twalib Bady paid a visit to the students at the hospital.

“I visited the students receiving treatment at Mikindani Hospital following the heartbreaking road accident that tragically claimed the life of a devoted teacher,” Bady said in a statement on his official Facebook page.

After the visit, he later proceeded to Mikindani Comprehensive School, where he met with anxious parents and the grieving school community.

“I shared words of comfort, helped calm the situation, and urged everyone to remain patient as we await further updates,” he said.

The MP pledged to cover all medical expenses for the injured students and assured the entire community of his full support during the difficult time.

“We will walk through this pain together, step by step, until healing comes,” he said.

“My heart goes out to the bereaved family, the students, and the entire school community,”.

Road accident rates in the country remain a serious concern.

The overall fatality rate is still high, with an estimated 3,000 deaths annually.

The economic burden of these accidents is substantial, estimated at 3-5% of Kenya’s GDP.
