Chebet died aged 60 and her burial date is yet to be set.

In his message of comfort conveyed on behalf of his wife Pauline and the entire family, Kalonzo had on Thursday said he was deeply saddened by the passing of June whom she described as a sister.

“Please know that you are in my prayers and thoughts at this most difficult and trying time for your family,” the message relayed via Senator Gideon Moi said.

“May our Good Lord give you the necessary fortitude to bear the loss of our sister June, and may He rest her soul in everlasting peace.

In an announcement on Thursday, the family said Chebet had died in the morning.

The family did not, however, disclose more details about her death, and asked for privacy during the mourning period.
