President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday evening visited Mediamax Network Limited offices on Kijabe Street where its employees are set to undergo a 50 per cent pay cut.

Uhuru’s impromptu visit about two hours after his address to the nation, comes at a time when the government has been pleading with employers not to fire or cut salaries of the employees.

“I was surprised to find him on the stairs,” one of the employees at the company said adding that the President was accompanied by two people believed to be his security guards.

After his short stay at the company that is owned by his family, Uhuru stepped out and boarded his Mercedes G Wagon and followed by two chase cars.

Uhuru is believed to have met with the company Acting CEO Ken Ngaruiya who has been under fire for ‘mismanaging the company’.

Over 170 employees of the company have gone to court to protest the pay cut.

In his address on Saturday, the President avoided pleading with the employers not to fire or cut salaries of their employees as he had done in his past addresses.
