Co-operative Bank of Kenya has hosted a delegation from the Central Bank of Eswatini for a benchmarking engagement focused on the development of a cooperative banking model.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Eswatini team to gain insights into Co-op Bank’s evolution and its experience in serving the cooperative movement, particularly Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (SACCOs).
The Co-op Bank team, led by the bank’s Managing Director, together with representatives from Co-op Bancassurance Intermediary (CBI) and the Head of SACCO Banking, shared key lessons from the bank’s growth and transformation.
Discussions focused on the bank’s business advisory services, innovative financing solutions and digital platforms developed to support SACCOs and enhance the value they deliver to their members.
The engagement also highlighted the role of technology and tailored financial solutions in strengthening cooperative institutions and enabling them to respond to the changing needs of their members.
Co-op Bank’s SACCO banking business provides financial services and advisory support to cooperative societies, helping them improve their operations and create sustainable value for members.
The benchmarking visit underscores the wider interest in Kenya’s cooperative banking experience and the role financial institutions can play in strengthening cooperative models across Africa.
Through engagements of this nature, Co-op Bank continues to share lessons from its experience while exchanging ideas with financial sector institutions seeking to develop sustainable and inclusive cooperative banking models.
