Lenana School has temporarily released all students after unrest and disturbances disrupted night prep sessions, prompting the administration to suspend learning as it assesses the situation.

In a notice issued to parents and guardians, the school’s Board of Management and administration said the decision was taken to restore calm and allow for a comprehensive review following the incidents reported on school grounds.

“Following the restlessness and disturbance experienced during preps in the school last night, the Board of Management and the school administration have resolved to temporarily release all students to allow for restoration of normalcy and a comprehensive assessment of the situation,” the notice stated.

Parents and guardians were directed to collect their sons from the school beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the institution insisting that all learners leave the compound only in the company of a parent, guardian or an authorised representative.

The administration did not disclose the exact nature of the disturbances but said an assessment would be conducted before normal learning resumes.

School management said further communication on the reporting date and any subsequent arrangements would be shared once the review is complete.

“Further communication regarding the reporting date and subsequent arrangements will be provided in due course,” the school said.

The institution apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked parents for their understanding, cooperation and continued support during the temporary closure.
