Co-operative Bank of Kenya has contributed KES 100,000 towards the upcoming half marathon organized by United States International University–Africa, reinforcing its commitment to education and youth empowerment.

The donation, highlighted in a recent post by USIU-Africa, is expected to support the university’s flagship annual half marathon, an event designed to raise funds for student scholarships and promote access to higher education. The initiative aligns with the marathon’s broader theme of advancing learning opportunities for financially challenged students.

According to the university, the bank has “set the pace” with its contribution, calling on other corporate partners to join the cause. The event is part of a growing movement that blends fitness, community engagement, and philanthropy under the banner of “Miles for Education.”

The USIU-Africa Half Marathon, launched as a platform to combine athletics with social impact, brings together students, alumni, corporate sponsors, and members of the public. Funds raised during the event go toward supporting scholarships and expanding access to quality education.

By backing the initiative, Co-operative Bank continues to position itself as a key player in corporate social responsibility, particularly in initiatives that promote education and community development. The bank’s contribution is expected to inspire further partnerships as preparations for the marathon gain momentum.

Organizers have encouraged more stakeholders to participate, emphasizing that the event is not only a race but also a collective effort to invest in the next generation of leaders.
