The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has intensified its youth engagement initiatives through a series of career talk sessions held at the The Co-operative University of Kenya, aimed at equipping students with practical skills and insights into the job market.
The sessions, conducted as part of the bank’s campus outreach programme, brought together human resource managers and industry professionals to interact directly with students. The forums focused on career preparedness, financial literacy, and opportunities within the banking and corporate sectors.
According to a post shared by the bank, the initiative formed part of a broader set of campus forums being rolled out at the university’s Karen campus. During the engagements, students were taken through key employability skills, including CV writing, interview techniques, and professional development strategies.
“Saturday marked Day 2 of our four Campus Forums at The Co-operative University of Kenya,” the bank noted, highlighting continued engagement with students eager to transition into the workforce.
The career talks also provided a platform for students to gain first-hand knowledge of the banking industry, with facilitators sharing insights on emerging trends, workplace expectations, and the importance of adaptability in a rapidly evolving job market.
University students welcomed the initiative, noting that such interactions bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. The sessions also encouraged networking, allowing participants to engage directly with professionals and explore potential career pathways.
The programme is part of Co-op Bank’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and capacity building, aligning with its wider efforts to support education and nurture future talent in Kenya’s financial sector.
With more sessions expected, the partnership between the bank and the university underscores the growing role of private sector institutions in preparing graduates for the demands of the modern workplace.
