The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has underscored its growing suite of digital payment and banking solutions that aim to make financial transactions easier, faster and more inclusive for customers both locally and abroad.

In a recent social media announcement, the bank highlighted a range of services covering instant diaspora remittances, automated deposits, Visa card capabilities and PesaLink transfers — signalling its commitment to strengthening digital access and convenience for account holders.

The bank’s expanded offerings cater to a range of financial needs: from enabling Kenyans living overseas to send money quickly through authorised remittance channels, to local customers benefiting from seamless interbank transfers via the PesaLink instant payment platform. PesaLink facilitates 24/7 real-time transfers across participating banks and financial institutions, helping reduce wait times and improve liquidity for individuals and businesses alike.

Co-operative Bank’s emphasis on digital capabilities is part of a broader industry trend in Kenya, where mobile and online banking continue to drive financial inclusion and convenience. According to payments network data, services like PesaLink have processed significant transaction volumes, connecting more than 80 banks, SACCOs and mobile money operators in the country.

Experts say such technology-led solutions are crucial for supporting both domestic and international financial flows, particularly as remittances from Kenyans abroad remain a vital source of foreign exchange and household support. In recent years, international remittances to Kenya have grown substantially, underscoring the importance of reliable and cost-efficient channels for Kenyan families and enterprises.

By leveraging digital platforms, Co-operative Bank aims to deepen its reach among customers who prefer contactless banking — a growing segment of the population that relies on smartphones, online portals and automated services for everyday financial needs.

The bank has steadily invested in technology and partnerships to expand its digital footprint, reflecting a strategic focus on modernising banking infrastructure while maintaining strong ties with customers across Kenya and the diaspora.
