The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has confirmed its active participation in the 2026 SACCO Leaders Convention, organised by the Kenya Union of Savings & Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO), underlining its ongoing support for the country’s cooperative movement.
The convention — one of the most significant annual gatherings for savings and credit cooperative leaders — opened this week at the PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa, drawing delegates from across Kenya’s booming SACCO sector.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the bank stated that its team was “geared up” for the event, signalling its commitment to engaging with SACCO leadership on shared priorities including financial inclusion, governance, and effective service delivery to members.
For the Co-operative Bank, participation in the KUSCCO convention offers an opportunity to deepen discussions with partners on innovations in cooperative finance, digital solutions tailored for SACCOs, and ways to strengthen resilience across the sector.
The SACCO industry remains a cornerstone of Kenya’s financial landscape, mobilising substantial savings and providing affordable credit to millions of members nationwide.
Industry stakeholders have noted that fostering stronger ties between banks and SACCOs can unlock new avenues for growth and economic upliftment in both rural and urban communities.
The 2026 convention brings together leaders, policymakers and industry experts to address pressing issues facing SACCOs, from regulatory compliance and technological adoption to strategies for member empowerment and sustainable growth.
Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Nairobi, Co-operative Bank has long been closely linked with Kenya’s cooperative movement, providing banking services to SACCOs, individual members, and businesses.
The bank’s involvement in events such as the KUSCCO convention reinforces its role as a key financial partner for cooperatives across the country.
