Man accidentally hits, kills daughter

Police are holding a man after he accidentally hit and killed his two-year-old daughter during a domestic fight with his wife in Riontonyi, Borabu, Nyamira County.

The incident happened inside his house as he confronted his wife following a quarrel on Monday night.

He is said to have accidentally hit the child on the head with a wooden stick, killing her.

The girl’s body was found lying on the floor inside the house minutes later after police were alerted.

Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, adding that the man will face murder charges.

In Isebania, Kuria, Migori County, a 30-year-old woman was arrested after she fatally stabbed another woman during a domestic fight in the Kanaiz area.

The deceased was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood after being stabbed in the chest, police said.

She was identified as Venic Nyabuto, 30. It was not immediately clear what triggered the fight. The murder weapon was recovered at the scene after locals chased and arrested the suspect a few metres away.

Police said they are investigating the murder and that the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Timau, Meru County, a man was fatally stabbed in a fight over a Sh200 debt. Police said the assailant acted in self-defence.

The incident occurred near the assailant’s house, where a confrontation had broken out.

Police said the victim’s body was found lying next to the house on Monday morning, hours after the incident.

The body had stab wounds on the left side of the chest, while the suspect sustained injuries on the forehead and middle left finger.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as the suspect was detained for questioning and possible arraignment.

Elsewhere in Kiambaa, Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County, the body of a man was found lying by the roadside.

He was later identified as Kennedy Kibet, 32. The cause of death was not immediately known. Police moved the body to the mortuary pending investigations.

In Maua, Igembe, Meru County, the body of Koome Kiunga, 40, was found by the roadside following a murder.

Police said the man had been accused of stealing miraa and was attacked by a mob.

The body had deep cuts on the neck, legs and stomach. It was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

Meanwhile, police in Olokurto, Narok County, are investigating an incident in which a man’s body was found in a river following a suspected murder.

The body was recovered from the Siyabei River with injuries to the head, hands and back. The motive was not immediately known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
