President William Ruto has strongly reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to an inclusive and people-centred government, emphasizing that State House is not a preserve of the elite, but a home for all Kenyans.

During a State House event on Friday linked to a SHA sponsorship programme, Ruto made it clear that ordinary citizens, including teachers, youth, and religious leaders, are welcome — a move he said reflects the dignity of every Kenyan.

“Kenyans have permission to come to State House because it is the residence of the people,” the President declared.
“I have decided that this residence will be the home of all Kenyans.”

Some have criticized the President for opening State House to groups beyond high-ranking officials. Ruto addressed this directly:

“Some are complaining that I’ve turned the State House into a place for ordinary people… But the truth is, I haven’t lowered the dignity of State House — I have elevated the dignity of Kenyans.”

Quoting Psalms 113, Ruto linked his actions to divine guidance, saying leadership is a calling to uplift others, not to isolate power.

“I am the head of this ‘household’ by the will of God and through your votes.”

The President framed these actions as part of a broader push for greater public participation, aligning with his administration’s “people-first” philosophy.
