Police in Nairobi have arrested two suspects and recovered a firearm in Embakasi on Sunday night.
The officers from the National Police Service  were on night patrol in the Pipeline area when they received intelligence from the public.

They were alerted by the public about suspicious individuals allegedly in possession of a firearm in the pipeline area.

“The team proceeded to Munche Building on the 6th floor. Upon entering a room occupied by the suspects, a search was conducted. This led to the recovery of a Powerline Airstrike pistol concealed inside a carton box,” NPS said in a statement.

The suspects are currently in custody as further investigation into the matter continues.

They are expected to be processed and arraigned once the investigations are completed.

Members of the public have been urged to continue working closely with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities.

“National Police Service commends the public for providing the information and the officers for their prompt response, which led to the successful recovery and arrests,” NPS said.

“The Service remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, residents, and visitors.”

This comes barely a day after police recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 25 rounds of ammunition in Kakapul, Baringo County, during a multi-agency security operation on Monday.

In a statement posted on its X account, the NPS said the firearm was discovered hidden within the homestead of a suspected illegal firearm holder.
