Kenya records 213 new virus cases as five more die

Kenya recorded 213 more cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, raising the country’s total to 33,016 President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced.

Another 241 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 19,296.

However, Uhuru announced that five more patients have succumbed to the virus bringing to 564 the number of fatalities in the country.

He urged Kenyans to continue observing all guidelines by the Ministry of Health.

Speaking during his eleventh presidential address on Coronavirus, Uhuru noted that the country’s infections have gotten to a manageable level.

“Hotspots like Mombasa and Nairobi have begun to stabilize. Health experts have indicated that levels of positivity has fallen from a high of 13 per cent in June to eight per cent in August. This means we have a chance of reaching a five per cent  positivity rate for a total reopening of our economy,” he said.
