Kindiki visits Co-op Bank stand at Kaptagat tree growing event

government’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development during the annual Kaptagat Tree Growing Event.

The Deputy President joined government officials, development partners and other stakeholders at the event, which forms part of ongoing efforts to increase the country’s forest cover and promote climate resilience.

Accompanied by National Treasury Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo, Kindiki visited the Co-operative Bank of Kenya exhibition stand, where he commended the importance of partnerships between the public and private sectors in advancing environmental conservation initiatives.

During the visit, the Deputy President called for collective action in restoring and protecting Kenya’s forests, noting that tree growing remains a key pillar in addressing climate change, safeguarding water catchment areas and securing sustainable livelihoods for future generations.

Co-operative Bank reaffirmed its support for the national tree-growing agenda, highlighting its commitment to environmental sustainability through partnerships that promote conservation and community participation.

The annual Kaptagat Tree Growing Event brings together government agencies, private sector players, conservation groups and local communities to accelerate reforestation efforts in line with Kenya’s target of increasing national tree cover and strengthening the country’s response to the effects of climate change.
