Three Arrested Over Alleged Sh22.4 Million Sacco Fraud Scheme

The Uasin Gishu County Public Service Board has re-appointed Julius Kitur to be chairman of the Eldoret City Board for a term of seven years.

Kitur has been serving as chairman of the Eldoret Municipal Board for the last ten years, after which the town was elevated to a city, leading to the establishment of a city board.
A month ago, he had indicated his willingness to serve on the management board of the city if he was re-appointed by the County administration.
“‘If I am re-appointed, I will serve with dedication,” he said.
The new members who have been appointed to the Eldoret City Board include Ruth Limo, Alice Kositany, David Maize, Paul Chemmuttut and KNUT official Sammy Bor.
The names have been forwarded to Governor Jonathan Bii for swearing in by the county administration
All the positions had been advertised, and the six were recruited by the board through a competitive process.
This comes a month after the new manager for Eldoret City, Elzeba Busienei, was sworn in, pledging better services to residents of the city.
She became the first woman to hold the position, replacing Tito Koiyet, whose tenure expired three months ago.
Governor of Uasin Gishu, Dr Jonathan Bii, graced the swearing-in of Busienei at the County Headquarters in Eldoret.
He will also witness the swearing-in of the city board members.
After taking the oath of office,  Busienei was formally presented with the instruments of the city, marking the official transfer of executive urban authority and responsibilities.
“I am greatly honoured to get the opportunity to serve residents of Eldoret and promise that I will work with everyone to transform the city”, she said.
“She brings discipline, good management, and a vision rooted in service. She will be instrumental in realising our goal of making Eldoret the cleanest, most organised, and livable city in Africa,” said the Governor.
The Governor also hailed her appointment as a breakthrough moment for women in leadership.
“This is a proud day. It’s a win for women, for our country, and for a new era of transformative leadership. We will support her fully,” said Governor Bii.
