Former US-based UDA activist Ombori Monari, popularly known as Cosmo Choy, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, joined a team of key pro-government politicians in Kisii County.

The Kenya Kwanza team, led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, was in South Mugirango Constituency for an empowerment programme.

Kindiki led a high-powered delegation that included President William Ruto’s close aide, Farouk Kibet, and the Majority Whip in the National Assembly and area MP, Sylvanus Osoro.

Choy, who was recently in the news claiming he was being ignored by top government officials, has since reaffirmed his support for the Kenya Kwanza administration.

On Wednesday, he was invited to the podium by Kindiki, who introduced him as his “longtime friend.”

“I am happy to be here. I know most of you see me on social media, but this is Cosmo Choy,” he said in his trademark Kiswahili, delivered with a deep Ekegusii accent.

Choy then humorously narrated how President Ruto is his great friend, recalling how he welcomed him to the U.S. during his tenure as Deputy President — a remark that left the crowd in stitches.

“Many said Ruto would never set foot in America, but he came — and I was there to welcome him,” Choy said.

Speaking of Kindiki, Choy described the Deputy President as his “best friend” who always returns his calls.

“We love each other like brothers born of the same mother, Priscilla,” he quipped, as Kindiki burst into laughter on the podium.

“You know I am not an MP, but I’m vying for the Embakasi East Constituency seat — and I have brought Sh25,000 to support the cause,” he added.

Just weeks ago, Choy affirmed that despite previously being sidelined by some officials, he had found his footing within the Kenya Kwanza government.

The controversial politician also recently launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying the ex-Mathira MP is “not fit to be president.”

Choy has publicly backed President Ruto for a second term in office and Kindiki as his successor in 2032.
