The Azimio coalition is taking more radical steps as part of their pushback against President William Ruto, including a parallel rally on Jamhuri Day.

The decision to have parallel Jamhuri Day celebrations was made on Tuesday during the joint coalition meeting at SKM Command Centre in Karen.

“To this end, we have decided to reschedule the start of our public engagements from November 30, to December  7,  due to the ongoing national examinations,” Minority leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi said.

“We have listened to the appeals of parents and our school-going children and we decided to obey their wishes.”

Sources who attended the parliamentary group meeting said Azimio hopes to attract thousands of supporters to throng their rally that will be staged within the city.

Azimio also pledged to fight any attempts to remove from office the four IEBC commissioners, terming the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee “a lynch mob and a hit squad” with a predetermined position.
