In a bold move to deepen financial inclusion across Kenya, Co‑operative Bank of Kenya has enhanced its M‑Co‑op Cash mobile banking platform—offering instant loans, transfers, bill payments, and cardless withdrawals—all accessible via USSD (*667#) or smartphone app.
M‑Co‑op Cash continues to stand out as a transformative force in the financial services space by offering instant loans ranging from micro-credit to salary advances, fully disbursed through user mobile phones.
It also allows seamless funds transfers to Co‑op accounts, M‑Pesa, Airtel Money, SACCOs, and bank accounts as well as paying utility and bill payments including KPLC, DSTV, school fees, and taxes.
In 2024, the platform disbursed KES 76.7 billion in loans—averaging KES 6.39 billion/month.
Q1 2025 saw KES 19.1 billion in mobile loans disbursed, reinforcing the platform’s vital role in the digital lending economy .
It is a major driver of non‑funded income, alongside supporting financial inclusion via micro- and SME credit.
Group Managing Director and CEO Dr Gideon Muriuki has consistently emphasized M‑Co‑op Cash’s strategic impact:
“Our Omni‑channel platform… avails our services to all customers through their preferred channel yet retain the same user experience,” Muriuki said.
